Malcolm's Sacrifice

I shall not forget this man. I shall not move away from his truth. He was one of the first men I learn to respect. The first book I read was his autobiography. As a matter of fact, I did not read this FIRST book until I was a sophomore at High Point University. Malcolm X, no matter where we 'stand' in our psyche, speaks our soul. Many of us have moved away from that place: The Authentic Self. Living a double life that keeps us ashamed of our reflections. Our authenticity is REBELLION. We did not come to the shores of this dreadful place peacefully. Some were brave enough to kill themselves to avoid what many of us (New Blacks) have endured. After experiencing what we have suffered I am thankful we 'came through'. But, I do not have any ill words for those who stood on Devil's Bridge in Antigua, and threw themselves in the rough waters of the Atlantic with hopes to meet The Creator via suicide. I honor these suicides because those Africans trusted their 'gut': 'Life from this point will be hell.' Slavery was hell...look what it has done to us! With this I do acknowledge how far we have come: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_4tDOO1fZ0&feature=related

Probably the most Realistic and bravest Black man on the Public scene. Made no apologies for spekg his truth and looked the ENEMY and naysayers directly in the eyes! Most impressive was ability to educate himself and avoid allowing folk and this trashy culture to define him. America literally feared him and it was not because of violence. It was because of his knowledge, courage, intelligence, and passion. A passion for the Love black people and black culture. Many ministers today TALK a major game.................Malcom walked and lived a great one. His life had purpose and I will always admire his strength and ability not to cave in to the psychological slavery that America has forced many blacks to endure.

Me too.............they were people with a purpose and a mission for their lives. Too many content and uninformed black folk in this generation. Too much schucking and jiving chasing dollar bills.................. Many black men measure success by a house and a car. The torch is embarrassed.

Payne if you have not already checked out the "Ballot or the Bullet" clip, you-tube! Crazy, to think this speech was around late 1960s (relevant NOW)!

How about my visiting family over the Christmas holiday were mad that I played this video 4 times (12/26/09) I find it motivating whatever I am going through! My girl can attest, I've made her listen numerous times. This brother was FIRE, just listen to his word play.

Black Leader Rift

Egos are deadly. Toxic. Destructive. Al has a big one and Tavis has a gigantic one! Both men are good at what they do. Al is the last of the Frontline Go Getters and Tavis is still evolving. Tavis actually despite popular opinion has worked hard to help black people get to where they need to be: Over the Hump. His State of the Black Union ran its course thus the reason he “abandoned” it. I don’t too much plan him. He did his part. He re-started the dialogue. Challenged us to address our self-induced problems and encouraged us to defeat the American system-generated barriers. Al speaks the conscious of countless blacks. He is relentless in his efforts. Tough in his approach – more than likely not ‘bought’. Owned by an unseen force. He is criticized by many – but no one can take away from what he has done and doing. Unfortunately, both black men are now doing what The Powers can appreciate: Division Sadly, the beef is really over differences of opinion pertaining to President Barack Obam
Derrion Albert’s life was brutally taken by the brutality that lives in the depths of the black community – but ultimately he is the latest Sacrificial Lamb offered up for no reason at all. Video images that honestly forced me to think: ‘What are these savages thinking/doing?’ I referred to the black boys featured in the video as what I think of when thinking about untrained, short-fused, uncontrollable mammals: SAVAGES . I later scrolled down the AOL web page to read the comments. Not surprisingly, I was able to determine which responses were poste

Going Without the Usual

I have decided to take on another challenge that supports my effort to be associated with or be the lead on a sacrificial project. If you recall in January I spent a day in silence and avoided eating for 16 hours in support of the Palestinians during the most recent Middle East conflict. For the month of February I have elected to limit myself to purchasing food in a grocery store, and only spending $120 for the entire month on the food that I buy. At present, I have spent $118.50. In the event I deplete my food funding prior to the 28th, I will eat frozen dinners that were given to me from a friend whose mother received an influx of Meals on Wheels dinners. You may be saying to yourself, ‘that will not be too difficult for The Black Rebel.’ It will because I spend on the average $220 a month on food. This food may come from a restaurant, it may be in the form of a latte or smoothie, or it may be from my weekly stop at a fast food joint for French fries. This month none of that will oc
