Refusing so that Others May Have

You may have read the story or someone may have told you about a generous man who randomly gave several janitors $100.

When I overheard this story in the background while cooking some Spam and eggs I smiled. I could believe it because their are still people out there who care about their fellow man/woman and who are serious about honoring those we may fail to acknowledge during our busy days of working for someone else.

They (The Compssioniate Givers) may be limited in number according to news reports/bloggers - but we are aware people can be moved to do good/sacrifice. And, bad...of course. Nonetheless, I have a question for you this week.

Would you take a pay cut or refuse a promotion to save fellow employees' jobs? (What would be your sincere motivation?)

Are you willing?

  1. You turn on the news and hear so much of murder, crime, war, etc...hardly anything good. It just makes me feel like humanity has finally fallen, just turning on each other. So it's really great to hear that there are ppl who still help others and still care for others, even if it's small. So yes, I'd probably be willing to do that to save other employees' jobs. However, I have kids who I need to make money for, so it depends.

Something about struggle that touches some of us. As our leaders continue to bicker and forget the average man we (common folk) need to organize and prepare to demand that this government do what it is formed to do: Do right by its citizens! Even teachers are being laid off. The same people who helped forge the minds of great men and women. Sickening!

Yes I would, to help my follow man and indeed there are still those who don't mind helping someone else in need.

Ironically enough yesterday, I was dining at the local Friday's, where I over heard a young couple squabbling over their check. Naturally I offered to help (although initially they were apprehensive) they eventually accepted (only $12.50) and I was happy to have helped!!

Perhaps not a paycut or refusal of promotion but nevertheless HELPING YOUR FELLOW MAN!

I must truly say that I would have to really look deep inside myself on this one. I feel that if that person were struggling and I myself was in a good position on my job and financially, then yes I would make that sacrifice to save someone else's job. Does that make me a selfish person? I don't know.

No it does not. It is only natural for humans to consider themselves first. I would weigh the same issues you brought forth.

Black Leader Rift

Egos are deadly. Toxic. Destructive. Al has a big one and Tavis has a gigantic one! Both men are good at what they do. Al is the last of the Frontline Go Getters and Tavis is still evolving. Tavis actually despite popular opinion has worked hard to help black people get to where they need to be: Over the Hump. His State of the Black Union ran its course thus the reason he “abandoned” it. I don’t too much plan him. He did his part. He re-started the dialogue. Challenged us to address our self-induced problems and encouraged us to defeat the American system-generated barriers. Al speaks the conscious of countless blacks. He is relentless in his efforts. Tough in his approach – more than likely not ‘bought’. Owned by an unseen force. He is criticized by many – but no one can take away from what he has done and doing. Unfortunately, both black men are now doing what The Powers can appreciate: Division Sadly, the beef is really over differences of opinion pertaining to President Barack Obam

Video images that honestly forced me to think: ‘What are these savages thinking/doing?’ I referred to the black boys featured in the video as what I think of when thinking about untrained, short-fused, uncontrollable mammals: SAVAGES . I later scrolled down the AOL web page to read the comments. Not surprisingly, I was able to determine which responses were poste

The Forgotten Sacrificed

Picked up my expensive gourmet coffee this morning. Headed over to get some cheap gas. Pulled up to pump – and it happened: a man creeped-up on me and asked me for some money. “Hey, sir, I am not a drunk. I actually work, but…I have been a foreign car mechanic for years. Fell on some hard times. I am 61. Too old to be out here needing money for some gas. I will have to do something else now. Don’t know what. All I know how to do is fix cars. Do you have a couple of dollars to give me?” A 58 year old man forcefully admonished me one day during a ReInvent Oneself seminar, “Would you please stop talking about that reinventing yourself crap. I am a brick layer. Have been since I was 14. I don’t know how to do anything but lay brick. What am I to do now that the construction business is down? I need answers. Not some fancy talking-to from you. You have a job!” I hear this sad commentary almost every day from men and women that are well over 50 years old. The message is simple – but new
